History
FreedPer Scientific is a company registered in Zimbabwe as Freedper Investments Private Limited. The name FreedPer is a combination of our Founder’s name and his wife’s. Our founder’s first name is Freedom and his wife is Perseverence. They took the ‘Freed’ in Freedom and ‘Per’ in Perseverance to come up with the name FreedPer. It was registered in January 2019 and the brand name FreedPer Scientific was launched in 2022 at Gateway Primary School during a training on use of weather instruments and handover of a weather station to the school. Prior to this, from 2013 to 2018 we operated under the banner of Earlycap Enterprises Pvt Ltd. During this period, we provided meteorological equipment to businesses engaged in a range of industries, including mining, energy production, and academia. A few notable examples of the clients we serviced during this period are; the country’s largest platinum miner, Zimplats, the UNDP and Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, Chisipite Senior School, Farai Primary School and the Zimbabwe Sugar Association Experiment Station (ZSAES).
Our first client was Chiredzi Primary School in 2013. We were hired to deliver and install a standard weather station which comprised of a Stevenson’s screen, raingauge, measuring cylinder, cup anemometer, windvane, hygrometer and six’s thermometer. This was a project of faith as we got the contract with zero trade reference. Logistically, the client is located in the very hot Chiredzi town which is 440km or 273miles South of Harare. We successfully completed the project in the agreed timeframe, providing the school with durable weather instruments which are all still functional a decade later. To date we have revolutionised the industry by introducing into the Zimbabwe market a World Meteorological Organisation standard raingauge, the 127mm brass ring raingauge manufactured with PVC material. We have also entered into distributorship contracts with global leaders in Meteorological and Hydrological Manufacturing Industry and we have expanded our business to exporting across Sub-Sahara Africa.
